Sis Rosa Morales came to the United States in 1995. She and her family settled in Oakland, California. In 2007, she learned how to speak English and resided several blocks down the street from Emmanuel.

In 2010, Sis. Rosa and her two children were invited to attend vacation bible school at Emmanuel. Hesitant to accept the invitation because of her religious beliefs, she yielded to the spirit and allowed her children to attend. Thirsty for the word, Sis. Rosa continued to attend church services and was compelled to become a member of Emmanuel, converting from Catholicism to Christianity. She was baptized that same year by Pastor Richard Jenkins.

Sis. Rosa’s dedication to God has led her to serve him in a myriad of ways such as sharing her gift of hospitality by serving Emmanuel's kitchen ministry as our “lead.” In collaboration with our daughters of Esther, she manages and directs Emmanuel’s live face book stream uploading our church service video recordings for all social media users to see. During the pandemic, Sis. Rosa was the point person for Emmanuel in regular check in with our elderly members in the neighborhood making sure that they were okay. Sis. Rosa also serves as Emmanuel’s neighborhood contact lead, as our liaison in the community, assisting families in crises and referring the for basic need services.

Sis. Rosa has served Emmanuel faithfully for over 11 years. She is a UCWM member, who loves to provide delicious homemade authentic Mexican meals for the community and her church family.
